Marvin Tanenbaum
Marvin Tanenbaum is a group leader at the Hubrecht Institute. His group studies the molecular mechanisms behind the control of gene expression at the level of individual cells and investigates how this control of gene expression influences important cellular decisions. The Tanenbaum group has developed several new techniques, such as the SunTag fluorescence imaging system. This system allows them to visualize and quantify individual mRNA molecules, enabling real-time study of the dynamics and regulation of each individual mRNA molecule. Additionally, SunTag has been adapted to function as an artificial transcription factor, allowing precise modulation of gene expression in endogenous genes.
