I am an interdisciplinary scientist fascinated by living systems and keen on understanding how biomolecules self-organize to form functional modules necessary for life. In our EmBioSys lab, the synthetic cell focus is on designing functional organelles in cell-mimicking vesicles via phase-separated condensates. We are also active in studying the dynamics of disordered proteins, on-chip emulsions, biosensing using liquid crystals, and bioadhesion. Microscopy, on-chip microfluidics, and physical chemistry tools are the key methodologies that we employ to realize our ideas.
